According to a report from Fabrizio Romano, Crystal Palace saw an approach for Andy Diouf (21) rejected by RC Lens.
Diouf’s move to Lens has yet to really work out, with the midfielder yet to reproduce the levels displayed at Basel. In 19 matches in all competitions this season, he has only scored one goal and one assist. However, Blood and Gold I don’t want to sell the player, because Roman reports.
Crystal Palace, looking to strengthen their midfield, saw an approach for Diouf rejected by Lens. The Ligue 1 club do not want to sell the Frenchman and so a potential deal seems unlikely to materialize.
Diouf recently missed out on a place in the GFFN 100. The following excerpt explains his absence from the 2024 list:
Diouf, nominated for Golden Boy in 2023, has yet to make a big impact since returning to France. He left France to join Basel and it was a decision that paid immediate dividends as he played a leading role in their journey to the UEFA Europa Conference League in 2023. His performances earned him a nomination for the Golden Boy and a return to France with Lens, but it is not yet established and does not have the same impact as in Switzerland. However, he is now starting more regularly (12 starts in Ligue 1 this season) under the direction of Will Still and the languid midfielder still has time on his side to reverse the trend. He needs a big 2025, though, to prove he’s not a one-season wonder.
