Contradictory relationships emerge as to whether cowboys, Micah Parsons speak

With others without a quarter of a high level obtaining new contracts in recent weeks, the second -hand Cowboys Macah Parsons is still awaiting its second agreement. More specifically, Starts still waits for the talks to leave the ground.

Tuesday evening, contradictory reports emerged where things are.

It all started, as best we can say, when someone named Ernie the Cowboys fan said that the cowboys and the parsons were “closing On a 5 -year contract extension, $ 200 million. Later, Mike Leslie from WFAA reported that cowboys and parsons had discussions approximately a long -term extension. Leslie also pointed out that owner Jerry Jones “called the star on Tuesday” to discuss a possible agreement.

Jane Slater of NFL Network, the point of sale held and operated by the League and influenced considerably by the Cowboys, reported that nothing was close and that “Significant discussions have not even started yet. “Clarence E. Hill, Jr. of all the DLLs of the city I have the same information team.

It is possible to harmonize the different reports like this: the talks have started, but they are not “significant” (regardless of the “significant” means). And here is the fundamental reality, as demonstrated by the recent contracts signed by the defensive raiders Maxx Crosby and the Texans Derek Stingley Coin Half, Jr.: These contracts can be done quickly, if the two parties are motivated to do them.

As indicated the day after the Crosby agreement, everything met a few hours. And Stingley’s agreement was accomplished less than three months after the window is opened on the ability of Texans to sign it to a second contract.

By the way, Stingley and Parsons are represented by the same agent – David Mulugheta of athletes first. As the Stingley agreement shows, Mulugheta can trust not to take advantage of a desire for the team to conclude a good deal quickly.

It would not be difficult to conclude an agreement for Parsons. An agreement in principle could be concluded in an hour or less. Since the Ja’mar Chase contract has set a new bar without a quarter to $ 40.25 million per year ($ 250,000 per year more than the myles Garrett average of $ 40 million), Cowboys and Parsons could make an extension of four years which pays $ 40.5 million per year in new funds.

It is $ 162 million. Add the $ 24 million that Parsons should make this year, and this is an agreement of $ 186 million over five years.

The structure would imply fully guaranteeing the first two years, spending the third year of the injury only to the full guarantee in March 2026, and perhaps the reversal of the fourth year of the injury only to the full guarantee in March 2027.

To encourage Parsons to go to the out -of -season program, the agreement would also include significant salary deepects ($ 1 million per year) if he did not participate. (Cowboys use them instead of training bonuses.)

That’s it. There is the outline. If the cowboys really want to do it, they should call Mulugheta now, develop cash flows and guarantees, and do it.

The more things persist without agreement for Parsons, the more obvious it is that Stations and his agent are not the obstacle. Above all, given the team’s story to label their feet inexplicably until the last minute possible, even if it leads to the maintenance of the player and not be as ready as it must be for the first year of the New Deal.

And if this prevents the team from saving ceiling that would allow other players to be signed.
