They say the results of spring training games mean nothing, but it sure feels good to be above .500 even during Cactus League baseball. The 4-2 Colorado Rockies are coming off a 14-7 win over the Chicago Cubs yesterday and will now face the San Francisco Giants for the first time this spring.
Mexican right-hander Valente Bellozo takes the ball to get things started for the Rockies. Bellozo signed a minor league contract with a non-roster invite to spring training this offseason and has already worked with new Rockies pitching coach Alon Leichman in Miami.

Bellozo will be making his second appearance of the spring and his first start. Last Saturday against the Arizona Diamondbacks, he pitched two innings, allowing one earned run on a solo homer. He struck out two and walked one.
On the Giants’ bump is right-handed pitcher Blade Tidwell. The 24-year-old made his MLB debut last season with the New York Mets and posted a 9.00 ERA in four appearances, two of which were starts. He had ten walks and ten strikeouts.
Tidwell has a six-pitch mix led by a four-seam fastball averaging 95.8 MPH. He also throws a sweeper, sinker, slider, changeup, and cutter.
