Well, that was weird.
Good evening! OTE is up and running again, which means you are subject to us and our delusional ramblings.
Mine will be abbreviated, mainly because I planned to work on this article between 2 and 4 p.m. this afternoon.
Instead, reader, I would like your help! As I wait for future iterations of this stupid column, while I’ve chosen this Thursday’s topic, I’d like to have your choice on what the following week should be:

One that fascinates or amuse me when I fall into the holes of Wikipedia is the observation of enclaves located within major American cities: small geographic oddities that have a sort of slum scandal in their history.
I’m not talking about sad, redlining and segregation Stories from the Park Cities in Dallas; I mean cities like Top of a hill, just north of Minneapolis and entirely surrounded by Columbia Heights, an all-manufactured-housing suburb that, at its inception, banned fortune tellers, repelled annexation attempts, and later experienced all the delicious embezzlement municipal ones that could be managed. Or Whittier, Alaskanot quite an enclave but called the “city under one roof” because virtually all its inhabitants live in a single building.

I’m ready for C-USA to be finished and MACtion take charge. I watched way too many FIU football games; I won’t fall into the trap again.
Instead, it’s time to watch the perpetually snake-bitten Sam Houston Bearkats as they finally try to get that elusive first FBS victory. UTEP lost to Northwestern by 31 points. This game will answer the question that no one is asking: “What if we played Iowa-Minnesota in a city basically famous only for its prison?”
It will be terrible. Perfect Wednesday evening viewing.
