Chinese tennis Player Pang Renlong has been sentenced to a 12-year ban and a substantial fine of $110,000 following a massive match-fixing scandal.

The International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) confirmed on Friday that the 25-year-old had admitted to fixing five of his own matches in lower-level events.

He also admitted to making “corrupt approaches” to other players in 11 additional matches, six of which were later fixed.

The match-fixing activities took place between May and September 2024, covering various ITF tournaments held in Türkiye, Hong Kong and mainland China.

Pang, whose career ranking reached 1,316 last year, also participated in qualifying for the ATP Challenger Jinan Open in China during this period. The ITIA has not disclosed the specific matches involved in the project.

Pang’s suspension is expected to last until 2036, including time already served under an interim ban. Of the substantial fine, $70,000 was suspended.

The decision prohibits him from playing, coaching or attending any event sanctioned by major tennis organizations or national federations.

This development follows the recent announcement by the ITIA of a 20-year ban for the French player. Quentin Folliotwho was involved in a similar match-fixing scheme and was the sixth player to be sanctioned in connection with the group.

Pang’s ban was announced just weeks before the start of the 2026 season.

The first major tournament of the year, the Australian Open, begins on January 12, with Jannik Sinner and Madison Keys looking to retain the singles titles they won earlier this year.

Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz each won two Grand Slam titles in 2025, while four different women shared the women’s prizes.

Coco Gauff won Roland-Garros for the first time, before Iga Swiatek broke his Wimbledon duck and Aryna Sabalenka retained his crown at the US Open.
