Chile lost their qualification for the Davis Cup against Belgium when Cristian Garin refused to continue playing after being overthrown by the opponent Zizou Bergs.
During a change during their single match in Hasselt, a celebration and a leap from Bergs struck him in the face with his right shoulder.
Bergs apologized immediately and Garin was authorized to play after receiving medical care.
Bergs received a violation of the code for anti -sport driving, but Chile called for its disqualification.
Garin received three successive violations of time for refusing to play, causing a game penalty to give Berg a 6-3 7-5 victory and make sure that Chile won the 3-1 draw.
An International Tennis Federation statement Read: “It was a rare, unhappy and very delicate situation and all the people involved, including the independent doctor, made reasonable diligence depending on the rules and procedures.

The Chile Olympic Committee said that it was “upset and incredulous” with the situation, and that it would support the Chilean Tennis Federation “so that this shameful international incident is not unpunished”.
