Patrick Mahomes discusses Sunday’s loss to Denver
The Chiefs are the defending Super Bowl champions, so few people in the NFL are hitting the panic button yet. But the Chiefs looked bad last week against a Denver Broncos team that had already been brutalized by just about every significant offense they’ve faced all season.
Apparently, Patrick Mahomes was in bad shape, which could explain why the MVP had one of the worst performances of his future Hall of Fame career. Mahomes turned the ball over three times and did not throw a TD pass, ending his impressive consecutive-game streak.
After the game, Mahomes spoke about his illness and how it may have impacted his performance on Sunday.
“Yeah, I started feeling bad last night,” he said. “I felt like I bounced back pretty well in the morning, so I’m doing everything I can to play my best football.”
When asked about his receivers, including second-year receiver Skyy Moore, who had a critical fourth-down drop that would have resulted in a score, the franchise signal-caller mentioned building continuity among his pass catchers.
“They’ll know I’m going to keep shooting at them,” Mahomes said. “It’s just who I am. I’m going to continue to shoot the open man and let them play.
