PSG have focused on strengthening their central defense in recent transfer windows, bringing in young talents like William Pacho and Illia Zabarnyi to develop the next generation of defenders.
Meanwhile, Marquinhos’ tenure at the club is gradually coming to an end. Lucas Hernández has suffered from injuries and, like Marquinhos, is approaching the final stages of his career.

In April, Le Parisien reports that sports advisor Luis Campos traveled to Italy to scout several players, including Mario Gila, during Lazio’s match against Bodo Glimt. The centre-back has reportedly been on PSG’s radar as a potential summer signing.

Nonetheless, while Gila is still an option for Campos and Luis Enrique, they face significant competition for the player. Il Messaggero reports that Bournemouth and Chelsea are both interested in the 25-year-old Spanish defender from Lazio.
Last October, CaughtOffside Revealed that Tottenham Hotspur had begun considering a January approach for Gila, seeing the defender as a realistic option to bolster Thomas Frank’s defense.

The report also notes that Spurs are not alone in this quest. Crystal Palace, Brighton and Everton have all kept tabs on the Spaniard, with interest already high this summer. Both Brighton and Bournemouth are understood to have contacted the Gila camp at this time as they assess possible additions at the back.
