The duo have won the last nine Grand Slam tournaments and are at their level. Which means they are each their own biggest rivals and biggest motivators.
This is the reality that Alcaraz faced in a recent interview in which he said that he is more motivated in the tournaments that Sinner participates in.
When Jannik is in the draw, it is much more likely that I will reach the final stages, and that motivates me to reach my best level, to try day after day to see my name in this final.” Alcaraz said.
Carlos has admitted in the past that his confrontations against the Italian made him a better player. This feeling remains.

In a way, Alcaraz thanks his biggest competitor for making him a better player. The Spaniard has won three of the last four Grand Slams since Sinner won the US Open and Australian Open tour in 2024-25.
Alcaraz’s statements don’t change how the two will prepare for upcoming tournaments, but it does show that he has his sights set on beating the Italian whenever he gets the chance.
