Indiana men’s basketball was built on the 3-point shot in year one under head coach Darian DeVries. This led to masterful offensive outings in the Hoosiers’ first three games, but caused problems in the final outing.

The Hoosiers, who hadn’t scored fewer than 90 points in a game before Sunday night, had to fend off a surprise Incarnate Word attempt at Assembly Hall in an ugly 69-61 victory after shooting just over 20 percent from long range. It wasn’t entirely unexpected, but it raised old concerns about the program’s recent history in early-season shopping games.
