Caitlin Clark’s signature Nike shoe won’t be available until 2026, but the WNBA star recently revealed some of the details that went into its design, including something never seen before.

As part of its partnership with Nike, Clark launched a signature logo in 2025, a clothing line and a new advertisement with cameos from its college head coach Lisa Bluder, rapper Travis Scott, comedian Michael Che and brothers Jason and Travis Kelce. The Fever goalie, who appeared on the Kelce brothers’ podcast, “New Heights,” earlier this year, reached out to the pair again to talk about her new commercial and other topics, including her highly anticipated signature shoes.

“It will definitely take time. I’ve been in the works for a while.” Clark told the duo. “Obviously, this is kind of the launch of a whole year where my shoe will be released. (I) will be wearing it on the court this coming season. That’s probably what I’m most excited about…”

Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark (22) and Nelly Korda compete in the Annika Pro-Am golf tournament at Pelican Golf Club.

Clark, who has been with Nike since 2022, explained that the process of creating his signature shoe actually began at the end of his senior year at Iowa. The former Hawkeyes guard’s NIL deal with Nike expired that same season, and after fielding other offers from Adidas and Under Armor, she eventually re-signed with the company on an eight-year contract worth $28 million.

The Fever star says it’s been “probably a year and a half” figuring out what she wants in her shoe, how to make it unique and how to be comfortable wearing it. While waiting for her signature shoe to arrive, she has released and worn a variety of Kobe Bryant PE shoes, including a custom Rookie of the Year version. However, fans shouldn’t expect his shoes to look like Bryant’s.

“Obviously I wear a lot of (Kobe Bryant shoes), but at the same time, I don’t want it to be a (Kobe Bryant shoe). I want it to be unique and a little bit different,” she said. “I kind of think about what’s important to me when I think about shoes or sneakers. I just think about huntability, and you want a certain sneaker, or you want a certain colorway. So, I think that’s probably going to be the fun part…”

Clark also told the Kelce Brothers that she was picky about what she wore and only wore a particular Bryant model. She knew that going into the process of designing Nike’s signature shoes, whatever decision she made would have to be at least on par with the technology in Bryant’s shoe line, if not better. According to Clark, who wouldn’t reveal the technology she’s using in her next shoes, “it’s going to be even better,” and fans will be excited.

“The technology we’re going to put in there is not something they’ve ever put in a basketball shoe before, so I’m really excited about that,” she said with a smile. Clark also revealed that she is excited about creating the different colorways or potentially collaborating with certain brands. Unsurprisingly, as a longtime Kansas City Chiefs fan, she teased a Chiefs colorway while chatting with the current Kansas City tight end and his ESPN anchor brother.

“You already know I’ll be the first to get them,” said younger brother Kelce.
