So much for the defensive winger of the Browns Myles Garrett demanding a job to a competitor of the Super Bowl.
After a month during which Garrett asked for a trade and the Browns said that it was not going nowhere, an agreement was concluded: Garrett will sign a new contract with the Browns which makes him the highest paid non-quarter in the history of the NFL, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
The complete details of the contract are not yet known, but it would include 123.5 million dollars guaranteed and will pay it on average $ 40 million per year.
Garrett’s commercial demand gave him a lever effect with the Browns, who did not want to lose their best player but admitted that he was not happy. Giving a player 123.5 million dollars guaranteed is a good way to make him happy.
The question, however, is whether something has changed with the position of Garrett that his biggest goal is to win a super bowl. Browns do not seem particularly close to this. With Garrett, 29, Garrett was now planning to play his peak in Cleveland apparently, or he thinks that the team is closer to a turnaround than it seems, or he accepts that if the Browns cannot make him a champion, they can make him rich.
