Brooksby got into the habit of saving a match point in this tournament, he did it in the first qualification round, then fought three match points in the second round of the main draw.
The match was unleashed by several long rainy delays and concluded half past seven after starting when the Brooksby Return Return winner won tied in the third.
“I was able to remember many of these moments (match point) this tournament and I think I became stronger because each of them continued,” said Brooksby who is classified 50th in the world.
“I am really satisfied with how I kept my mind to be mental here all week until now,” he said.

Brooksby will face another American in the Sunday’s final – either Francis Tiafoe, second seeded, Brandon Nakashima, the fourth seeded, who was later playing on Saturday.
“I think it doesn’t matter what’s going on tomorrow, it’s a huge positive for me this week. Huge. I’m proud of the work I put,” he said.
