Brooklyn NetsAmerican Professional basketball team based in Brooklyn, new YorkIt plays in the east Conference of the National Basketball Association (NBA). As a member of American basketball association (ABA), the Nets won two championships (1974 and 1976).

The franchise was founded in 1967 and was known as New Jersey Americans during its first season. The team started playing their home matches Long island During the 1968-1969 season, which led the team to change its name in Nets from New York. While they qualified for the ABA final in 1971-1972, the Nets did not finish more than third place in one of their first six seasons.

In 1973, the team exchanged against Superstar Forward Julius ErvingWho instantly turned the franchise and led him to an improvement of 25 victories compared to the previous season in his first year in New York. The Nets won the title Aba this season, and Erving led the team to a second championship in 1975-1976. When the ABA merged with the NBA in 1976, the nets were forced to raise $ 8 million to reach the established league. Missing many viable assets, the team sold the Erving contract to the Philadelphia 76ersAnd his fortune quickly turned for the worst: the team knew five consecutive seasons after joining the NBA (although they qualified for the playoffs in 1979 with a file of 37–45).

The franchise returned to New Jersey In 1977. In 1981, the Nets moved into their new house in the Meadowlands (after playing the previous four seasons on the prosecution of the Rutgers University basketball team), hired Larry Brown While their head coach (he left after two seasons) and wrote an advantage Buck Williams. A tenacious Reboder, Williams was appointed recruit of the year and led the Nets to their first NBA victories record during the 1981-1982 season. The nets qualified for the qualifiers that year and in each of the next four, but only once, they won an post-season series during this period, in 1984, when they eliminated the title champion of the NBA Philadelphia 76ers.

After a drought of five seasons, the nets returned to the playoffs in 1991-1992, with a promising young team featuring guards Kenny Anderson and Dražen Petrović as well as the front Derrick Coleman. However, these nets team was canceled by the sudden death of Petrović in a car accident in 1993 and a series of bad behaviors and incoherent play by Anderson and Coleman who led to an almost complete turnover by the end of the 1995-1996 season, after producing three eliminations eliminations in the early 1990s in the early 1990s. In 1996, the nets also hired John Calipari As a chief coach, but he was dismissed during the 1998-1999 season.

New Jersey had one more winning season during the rest of the decade and started the 2000s finishing second to last their division. In 2001, the nets exchanged against the leader Jason KiddWho instantly revitalized the team and led them to an improvement of 26 victories compared to their 2000-2001 record during their first year in New Jersey. Behind Kidd’s game and striker Richard Jefferson, the Nets won the Eastern Conference Championship and qualified for the NBA final in 2001-2002 and 2002-2003, but they lost each time. The nets returned to the playoffs in each of the following four seasons, but their level of play fell rushed shortly after, and the team’s 12-70 record in 2009-2010 was the worst in the history of the franchise.

In 2012, the team – which at that time belonged to a group of investors who included notable figures such as Mikhail Prokhorov And Jay-Z– The all -new Arena of Barclays Center in Brooklyn has linked to the aim of capitalizing on the wider media market and the New York cultural stamp. A team of reconstructed and invigorated nets displayed a file of 49–33 in 2012-2013, but lost in the first round of the NBA qualifiers. During the following off -season, the nets exchanged against stars veterans Kevin Garnett And Paul Pierce And hired the recently retired KIDD to be a head coach, but the team has struggled to meet their high expectations at the start of the 2013-2014 season. However, a notable event of this season came on February 23, 2014, when the team signed a free agent Jason Collins, who, playing in Brooklyn’s match that evening, became the first openly gay athlete to participate in one of the four main North American team sports. Collins was part of a invigorated Nets team that was among the best in the league in the second half of the season, and the team finished its tumultuous Regular season with a place in playoffs.

Kidd forced a rare exchange of coach with the Milwaukee Bucks During the following off -season and, after the departures of Pierce and Garnett in 2014 and 2015, the exhausted networks respectively became one of the worst NBA teams. Although they have dealt with many of their first round choices of the 2010s in Garnett and Pierce 2013 trade (a business that many sports writers qualified one of the worst in NBA), the Nets still managed to organize a list of young competitive young people who returned to the playoffs during the 2018-2019 season (a defeat in the first round).

During the 2019 offseason, the Nets caused a sensation by signing stars Kyrie Irving And Kevin during. Also this summer, Joseph Tsai, co -founder of the Alibaba electronic commerce company, bought Prokhorov to become the majority owner of the team. Durant missed the whole 2019-2020 campaign when he recovered from a heartbreak Achilles tendonAnd Irving’s season ended early with a shoulder injury, but the team still managed to reach the playoffs, where they were swept away by the Raptors of Toronto. Old Ligue MVP twice Steve Nash was trained as head coach in September 2020, and the already talented list of Nets was reinforced by adding James Harden Four months later. Although the three stars only played eight games together during the regular season, Brooklyn entered the reigning playoffs contenders. They demonstrated their potential as an offensive power by beating the Boston Celtics in the first round. But in the second round, Irving and Harden were both injured and, despite a heroic performance of during, the team lost against the possible champions, the Milwaukee Bucks, in seven games.

This victory in the first round on the Celtics turned out to be the highest point of the whole era of the day of day-to-house in Brooklyn. With the following season which should start in October 2021, the team announced that IRVING had chosen not to be vaccinated for COVID 19This makes him ineligible to train or play (he was finally authorized to participate in games outside and, in March 2022, in home matches, but he did not play in just 29 games this season). After an injury to during in January 2022, the net worked misunderstood and an unhappy hardened – was destroyed by the uncertainty caused by the absence of Irving from the team – was exchanged in the 76ers in exchange, among other players, Ben Simmons. In the playoffs, the disjointed nets lost in the first round against the Celtics, 0–4. Weeks after the 2022-2023 season, Irving was suspended by the team after refusing to clearly disavow a social networks posted that he had done who was largely interpreted as being anti -Semitic. In the middle of the controversy, Brooklyn dismissed the Nash coach after a departure from 2 to 5. The team’s cohesion did not succeed and, in rapid succession, Irving and Durant were exchanged halfway in the season. In the aftermath of a few chaotic years, in 2023-20124, a team of young nets fought for a record of 32-50 and missed the playoffs.
