The bite played its first home game in 1997 and was one of the eight original WNBA franchises but fell back after the 2006 season.
Basketball coach of the Mallard Creek High School girls, Karyln Dixon, went to games often and would like to see the bite come back.
“Those of us who have grown on it, you know, we are waiting for it to come back for a long time,” said Dixon.
This moment can happen soon. The Hornets support an offer from the businesswoman Erica Berman to bring the bite to Charlotte.
The WNBA plans to add another extension team for a total of 16 teams.
The other interested cities include Detroit, Nashville and Philly.
Avari tendall says that she would like to see her favorites play in the city of Queen.
“A’ja Wilson, for sure, Caitlin Clark is up there,” said tendall.
The little striker of Mallard Creek and his coach say that the bite would inspire a new generation of basketball players for girls
“Knowing that they can accomplish what they have already accomplished would be good for them,” said tendall.
“We talked about the decline of girls who participate in a young age in basketball, and I think that having, you know, so many professionals just at the bottom of the road and to be able to cultivate culture here more. I think it’s going to be wonderful, “said Dixon.
There is no calendar for the WNBA to choose a city.
