New York (AP) – Breanna Stewart signed her Saturday in New York Liberty, the team announced.
This decision was not a surprise after helping to carry out the franchise in its first WNBA championship last year. Stewart won three league titles, the first two coming with Seattle. She won the MVP WNBA twice and was MVP twice in the final.

“Bringing Stewie back to Liberty was our absolute priority this off -season,” said New York Managing Director Jonathan Kolb. “Its impact on and off the field is immeasurable – it is not only one of the best players and the most accomplished in the world, but of a leader whose relentless motivation is fundamental to the norm on which we continue to build in New York.”
Stewart has an average of 21.8 points and 8.9 rebounds in his two seasons in New York. It also collected 3.7 assists, 1.6 interceptions and 1.4 blocks.
Stewart, 30, came to Liberty in 2023 to be closer to her house in Syracuse, New York. She played the first seven years of her career in Seattle after being drafted for the first time by the storm in 2016.
Stewart has undergone arthroscopic surgery On his right, the meniscus earlier this month and should be found entirely by the start of the training camp next month. She spent the off -season to play inverally – Ligue 3 against 3 that she co -founded with Napheesa Collier. Stewart collected an average of 19.1 points, 11.0 rebounds and 3.1 assists, but his team missed the playoffs.

The Liberty has all its five from last season’s title race, which saw New York beat Minnesota in a fifth decisive match. The team also added goalkeeper Natasha Cloud to a trade.
