New York Liberty star Breanna Stewart underwent an imagery which showed that it avoided a significant injury to her right leg, by The New York Post. Stewart has traveled in four four -game liberty games, but released on Monday when they faced the Dallas wings. She has no official return date.
Stewart came hampered a few minutes from the heartbreaking loss of freedom of freedom at the Los Angeles Sparks Saturday evening and was then excluded for good with a lower leg injury. After the liberty fought with a 15 -point deficit, Rickea Jackson returned to a buzzer drummer for a 101-99 Sparks Win.
At the start of the first quarter, Stewart defined a screen to Sabrina Ionescu and rolled in the basket. It struck it with a perfect pocket pass which led it to the right, but Stewart cooked too much contested say-up. Nothing seemed to be bad while Stewart went into defense, but as soon as she crossed Halfcourt, she stopped and reported the bench for a submarine.
It is too early to know the exact injury of Stewart or how long it can be sidelined, but it is prudent to bet that freedom will take the prudent route with the MVP twice. Stewart underwent surgery on his right meniscus during the offseason and has already undergone significant injuries to his two Achilles tendons.
Stewart recently appeared in his seventh star game and is on the right track to another All-WBA campaign. Upon entering Saturday, it was on average 19 points – tied in fifth row of the league – 6.8 rebounds, four assists, 1.5 interceptions and 1.4 blocks.
The reigning champion Liberty was assaulted by injuries and absences this season. More particularly, Jonquel Jones was limited to 11 appearances due to multiple ankle injuries. Key player Leonie Fiebich also missed almost a month while he participated in Eurobasket with the German national team, while NYARA SABALLY was hampered by a knee problem.
Although it often plays in digital disadvantage, the Liberty sits in second place with a record of 17-7 and remains the favorites of the title (+160, by Fandual). The latter is largely due to the coming arrival of the MVP of the 2019 finals Emma Meesseman, who will make his long -awaited return to the WNBA later this season once his visa problems are resolved.
There is no replacement of a player like Stewart, but if she needs a prolonged spell on the sidelines, the arrival of Meesseman would certainly help to soften the blow.
