Kevin Lankinen is officially the NHL record holder. With his victory on Sunday, the Vancouver Canucks goaltender became the first goaltender in NHL history to win his first ten games on the road to start a season. Before Lankinen embarked on this unbeaten streak, the record was held by Cam Talbot and Glenn Hall, who each recorded nine consecutive wins on the road.

Canucks goaltender could make NHL history with another road win
Lankinen’s record-breaking performance came in a 27-save overtime victory against the Detroit Red Wings. With this victory, Lankinen improves his record to 12-3-2, with his two shutouts on the road. Vancouver’s win over Detroit also marked a record-breaking moment for the franchise, as Quinn Hughes became the Canucks’ all-time leader in assists by a defenseman, surpassing Alex Edler.
Now with ten straight road wins, Lankinen will have the chance to tie the NHL record for longest road winning streak in a season. The record is currently held by Evgeni Nabokov of the San Jose Sharks and Devan Dubnyk of the Minnesota Wilds. With one more game left on Vancouver’s current six-game road trip, Lankinen could have a chance to tie the NHL record Tuesday in Minnesota.
