CHICAGO – Colton Parayko could hear them all as he walked out of bounds at Wrigley Field from the visitors’ dugout before the 2025 Discover NHL Winter Classic between the St. Louis Blues and Chicago Blackhawks.
“It was a lot of fun coming out, the chants of ‘Let’s Go Blues’ and ‘Let’s Go Hawks’ were exciting,” Parayko said. “Everyone was in the game. It was a lot of fun. Coming out of the dugout, it was such a cool experience. Everything the NHL and everyone that came together to put this together did a fantastic job. I couldn’t have been happier and proud to be a part of it. It was such a great experience with family, friends and everyone.
Excerpt from “Let’s Go Blues!” » songs to count the goals with “Towel Man” and the coup de grace, singing “when the Blues come on” with the final result well in hand:
And don’t think for a second that the players haven’t noticed the Blues fans.
“From the start they were strong, which is exciting and continued, but getting better and better as the match went on,” Parayko said. “We have huge fans in St. Louis. Huge hockey fans, very passionate sports fans. We’re lucky.”
But putting yourself in the shoes of Blackhawks fans was part of the fun.
“Hearing our St. Louis Blues fans at the end of the game, counting our goals,” Blues goalie Jordan Binnington said. “It was a lot of fun. Even the Blackhawks fans were really loud too. It was a lot of fun.”
Maybe someone should tell that guy above that the two fan bases get along to some extent.
Blues coach Jim Montgomery couldn’t have been more proud.
“It’s awesome, it’s awesome,” Montgomery said. “The Blues fans are awesome. It’s a special place for me, it’s a special place for my family. I know how much this organization loves playing for the Blues fans. For them to come and take a trip from four-thirty to five o’clock (or) whatever it is, whether they flew in, it’s just awesome how much they support us.”
