WASHINGTON – On Sunday, April 7, the University of South Carolina women’s basketball team won the NCAA national championship. Before the championship game, South Carolina head coach Dawn Staley made comments in support of the inclusion of transgender athletes in sports when pressed by a media member on the topic. His remarks were delivered to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) vote Monday, April 8, virtually ban transgender women from women’s competitions starting next school year.
