College football fans, Big & Rich won’t be coming to your town anymore.
At least they won’t do it during ESPN’s College GameDay openers.
The popular country music duo, whose hit song I’m coming to your town was the theme song of College Game Day for many years, announced on Friday that they were ending their association with the series.
“@collegegameday, it was an honor. It’s time to officially pass the torch after 16 incredible years! the duo tweeted from their official account.
“It’s been a great 16 years being the outspoken voice of College GameDay,” Big Kenny said in a video.
“And now we’re thrilled to officially pass the torch to these extremely talented artists,” said our partner John Rich. “We can’t say who yet, but tune in to ESPN on Saturday, September 2 at 9 a.m. to find out.”

The song’s wacky lyrics seemed a perfect fit for a show known for featuring wacky fans, silly mascot heads and colorful commentary. The 2005 song, which won a Grammy Award for Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group, served as College Game Day theme song almost since its release.
ESPN announced on August 1 that Post Malone’s song, something true, would be his college football anthem for this season, for games, commercials and studio broadcasts. It is unknown if this song will also be used for Match day.
