Hockey Canada today announced its roster for the IIHF World Junior Under-20 tournament. Among a star-studded young team, Avalanche prospect Calum Ritchie made the cut.

The 19-year-old forward was selected 27th overall by the Avalanche in the 2023 NHL Draft.
Ritchie made his NHL debut this season with the Avalanche. He spent seven games with Colorado this season, scoring just one point in the form of a goal. The organization sent him back to the OHL at the end of October.
With the Oshawa Senators of the OHL this season, he scored eight goals and 28 assists for a total of 34 points in 18 games played. These stats earned him a spot among the team leaders, ranking 3rd in points and 2nd in assists.

Jett Luchanko (Philadelphia Flyers) and Bradly Nadeau (Carolina Hurricanes) are the only other players on the Canadian team to make their NHL debut.
Ritchie was part of the WJC U18 team in 2022-23, during which he had 3 goals and 6 assists in 7 matches played.
