Six race teams tested the mufflers, along with a few other minor modifications, at Phoenix Raceway on Wednesday. FONTANA, Calif. – Racing fans on the Central Coast have been as outspoken, and perhaps more so, than those across the country about the future of the Auto Club Speedway property. The track ran its last races this weekend in the current configuration. It was built in 1997 and has reached its acceptable surface life. NASCAR severely penalized Hendrick Motorsports Tuesday for problems with hood louvers discovered on all four Hendrick cars last weekend at Phoenix Raceway.NASCAR imposed the following penalties:Docked Alex Bowman, Kyle Larson and William Byron 100 points and also penalized them 10 playoff points each.Suspended crew chiefs Cliff Daniels, Alan Gustafson, Rudy Fugle and Blake Harris each have four races. Moral victories are usually reserved for losers, but this does not apply to Brad Keselowski following a duel with the winner of the race Joey Logano on Sunday NASCAR race. Keselowski is approaching two full seasons without a Cup Series win, but his No. 6 Ford continues to show encouraging signs.
