Once again, the tournament is expected to see an increase in total chases at stake starting in 2025 – winners will have the opportunity to win record sums of money.

As the first stage of the 2026 Grand Slam is underway, the prize money will be distributed soon. How much will the winners earn?

Here’s what you need to know about the prize money at stake at the 2026 Australian Open.

What is the Australian Open purse for 2026?

The total purse for the 2026 Australian Open is set at US$75 million, or AU$111.5 million. This is an increase of 16 percent from last year.

It is also the largest year-over-year increase in Australian Open history – and the 2026 tournament now has the second-highest purse in Grand Slam history, behind the 2025 US Open.

How much money will the winner of the 2026 Australian Open receive?

The winners of the men’s and women’s singles events will each earn $2,793,365 (US). This represents an 18.57% increase from the 2025 award, which was $2,198,928.

The winners of the men’s and women’s doubles will take home $621,977 (US), an increase of 11.11% from the 2025 tournament.

Additionally, first round losers at the 2026 Australian Open will still earn $100,965 (US), while a second round appearance guarantees at least $151,448 (US).
