The winner of the last Enquirer Athlete of the Week The fan poll is Arabella Stanley of the Harper Creek girls golf team.
Fans supported Stanley to help his finalists Addi Dzwik, Amiyah Gibson and Akin Olapade. Stanley received 59 percent of the votes before the 5 p.m. deadline on Wednesday. Thanks to her fans, she’s in the spotlight for this Sunday Enquirer Athlete of the Week.
Harper Creek won the 2024 All-City Women’s Golf Championship last week at Riverside Golf Club, shooting a team score of 170 to take first place. Stanley, a senior captain, helped lead her team by shooting a 41 to finish tied for third. Earlier in the week, Stanley also helped Harper Creek defend its Interstate 8 Conference title as the Beavers won the league championship tournament. Stanley tied for second in the conference tournament with a round of 89.
“We go from one to five, really one to six. We have all six girls who are very close and can all play well on any given day. It was a good day (at All-City) for all of them and this depth That’s one of the main reasons we won today Anytime you can beat your city rivals, it’s a good day,” Harper Creek coach Jason Knickerbocker said. .
“Arabella is the captain and leader of the Harper Creek golf team. She has played consistently all year with a nine-hole average of 44. She looks forward to leading the team to the regional tournament next Tuesday at the course Coldwater Golf Club.”
