Indian Wells, California (AP)-The Russian star of the teenager Mirra Andreeva qualified for the final of the BNP Paribas Open, defeating the defending champion IGA Swiatek 7-6 (1), 1-6, 6-3 in cold conditions Friday evening to become the youngest finalist of the tournament since 2001.

Andreeva, 17, in ninth row, will face the winner of the end of the semi-final between Aryna Sabalenka, seeded, and Madison Keys to seed.

Andreeva and Swiatek both finished the match with sweaters, with the temperature plunging in the 1950s in the final set.

Andreeva ran his sequence of victories on tour of 11 games and ended the 10 -game Swiatek game race in the California desert, the Russian won his first WTA tour last month in Dubai to become the youngest player to win a WTA 1000 event.

Kim Clijsters was also 17 years old in 2001 when she lost to Serena Williams in the final.

Swiatek, also the champion of the Wells Indian 2002, was a secondary seeded.
