American goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher has announced her retirement from international football.
The 36-year-old, who has 113 caps, was the starting goalkeeper when the United States won the World Cup in 2019, as well as Olympic gold in Paris this summer.
She will end her international career after the United States’ next matches against England on November 30 and the Netherlands on December 3.
“Having the opportunity to be a part of the USWNT (United States Women’s National Team) for the last 15 years has been the greatest honor,” Naeher said.
“This is a special team to be a part of and I am beyond proud of what we have accomplished, on and off the field. The memories I have created over the years will last me a lifetime.
“I know a chapter is ending, but I’m very excited to continue to see the growth of this team and what more they can accomplish.”
Naeher ranks third on the USWNT all-time list for goalie picks, behind Hope Solo and Briana Scurry.
She signed a new contract with the Chicago Red Stars for the 2025 NWSL season in September, which will mark her 10th year with the club.
