The reigning champion Coco Gauff was beaten 6-1 6-2 by the third seeded Amanda Anisimova in the semi-finals of China Open.
The Wimbledon finalist, Anisimova, 24, only took 58 minutes to pass her compatriot and will play Jessica Pegula or Linda Noskova in the final on Sunday.
Anisimova, which also reached the United States Open final this year, climbed the world number four and showed its class by engaging Gauff.
She lost only five points in her first service in Beijing and won the first five games of the match in a dominant display.
