The Kansas City Royals’ last game was Sunday. They lost. Their next game will be Friday against the Minnesota Twins. They will probably lose.
It’s during these shockingly awful seasons that our love of baseball and the Royals is tested, and it’s during the All-Star break that it’s really, truly tested. Because if we’re Royals fans, we should be excited for baseball to resume, dammit.
But when baseball resumes, Kansas City will continue its march toward its worst season in its 50-year history. And who wants to watch that?
Either way, All-Star week isn’t particularly interesting. There are no baseball games in general, much less Royals games. So let’s talk about something that’s not about baseball. Wow, boredom!
Here are your five OT questions this week.
- What are your nights like when you can’t watch the Royals or baseball – IE, right now or during the offseason?
- A colleague once asked me what my five favorite sports were, which I found strange, since most people only watch a few sports regularly, if any. What is your second favorite sport besides baseball?
- A trailer for a movie called Overlord came out today, which I wasn’t planning on paying attention to until I saw that it was a movie produced by JJ Abrams . Even though Abrams didn’t direct it, it got me thinking: Who do you think is the best director whose name instantly gives seriousness to a project?
- We are considering purchasing a new car even though our most recent car has a trade-in value. What was your experience purchasing vehicles? Is it everything it says it is, worse or better?
- What is the best big city to go on vacation in the United States? (BONUS: If you say “Branson,” I will ban you)
Good answer to the question, you go.
