AC Milan are looking for their 50th Supercoppa Italiana trophy, while Inter Milan want to close the gap.
This is highlighted in today’s printed edition of the Milanese newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
Inter and Milan face off tomorrow for the Supercoppa Italiana.
The Nerazzurri are looking to win the trophy for the fourth consecutive season. The Rossoneri, on the other hand, are looking to avenge Inter’s victory in the 2023 final.
Additionally, in April, Inter clinched the twentieth Serie A title in their history with a victory over Milan. This gave the Nerazzurri one more Scudetto than their city rivals and allowed them to take the second start.
AC Milan in search of trophy number 50 with Supercoppa – Inter looking to close the gap
Meanwhile, Milan undoubtedly have a better record in Europe than Inter.
This allowed the Rossoneri to have a slight advantage in the overall trophy tally.
Inter have 46 trophies in total throughout their history. Milan, on the other hand, has 49.
So for Milan, a victory tomorrow would mean reaching fifty in total.
For Inter, on the other hand, they could move closer to two of their city rivals in the trophy table if they win tomorrow.
La Gazzetta notes that Inter have won the Serie A title twenty times, the Coppa Italia nine times and the Supercoppa eight times.
Then there were three Champions League/Europa League triumphs. And three UEFA Cup successes.
Lately, Between have won the Intercontinental Cup twice and the Club World Cup once.
