The LA Rams are working toward the financial security of All-Pro defensive lineman Aaron Donald. But, at the same time, this is also what Aaron Donald is working towards. And the two separate tracks may not lead to the same point. Will this complicate efforts to the Los Angeles Rams extend Aaron Donald? We do not know it. So what do we know?
We know that The topic of Aaron Donald’s retirement has been a rather out-of-left-field topic in the NFL since the Super Bowl. But the more my mind has tried to eradicate this problem and rationalize the fact that it will never happen, the more this topic seems to resurface. We also know a few other things:
We know that the LA Rams are fully aware of Aaron Donald’s state of mind. He just played a big role in winning Super Bowl LVI with the Rams. NOW? He wants to get paid and for that, he wants a new contract.
We know that ESPN Jeremy Fowler reported (subscription required):
“Keep in mind that the retirement buzz around Donald — first delivered by NBC’s Rodney Harrison during the Super Bowl pregame broadcast — has always been real. And I understand that Donald has a number that he will play for. If it’s not reached, retirement can Add years to an already existing three-year pact, Donald is entering his mid-30s, and who knows if he wants to play that long? But it’s the best way for Los Angeles to stretch money for cap purposes. .” – According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN”
So the LA Rams aren’t really in negotiations with Donald’s representation. It’s more like they themselves are being tested to succeed in this expansion.

We know that LA Rams head coach Sean McVay is fully aware of the situation, is in contact with Aaron Donald and McVay knows how important it is for the team to get AD back on the field.
Rams coach Sean McVay said Aaron Donald’s decision not to retire was a “major relief,” adding that the team now needs to sort out his contract. Jokingly, if Donald hadn’t come back, maybe he would opt for television. #Rams @PFN365 pic.twitter.com/3jjk5xVH0B

So this is it.
We know that LA Rams general manager Les Snead is working hard to get an extension into Aaron Donald’s hands and sign him. But we have yet to see any evidence of concrete progress.
#Rams General manager Les Snead didn’t say he was certain Aaron Donald would play in 2022, but said “it’s not an issue right now” and indicated a new contract was in the works discussion for the three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year.

And now we know that Aaron Donald has signed with Kanye West’s Donda Sports. So what exactly does this mean for Aaron Donald and the LA Rams?
There’s the NFL, and then there’s life beyond the NFL. Defensive tackle Aaron Donald’s push to sign with Donda Sports is certainly a step in exploring all the options available to him in life beyond the NFL.
“I think it’s a heck of an opportunity to open a lot of different doors and a lot of different things outside of football that I want to be involved in, that I want to do, that my wife wants to do. So to be a part of that , and to be one of the best first athletes to be a part of it, that’s pretty awesome. We’re excited about it and we’re going to see where this thing goes. – by Aaron Donald in the video above”
SO now we know we have one of the faces of the NFL, Aaron Donald, and his wife Erica Donald, signing aboard the new Donda Sports.
How well will Donda Sports represent Aaron Donald? Although it remains to be determined, the field could cover a multitude of areas, including clothing, endorsements, sports representation, publicity, and more.
So what does this mean for the LA Rams? We don’t know, but Donda Sports clearly has the means to offer life after the NFL. Aaron Donald clearly has his eye on the life after football chapter.
