These are the best dress up themes for road trips in the 2018 season

BBQ’s Best 5 is exactly what it sounds like: Each week, we’ll pick a category in the world of baseball and talk about the five best things within that group. Today we’re highlighting the five best dressing themes for MLB teams’ road trips in 2018.
A big part of being a professional athlete in 2018 is flaunting your sense of style. Some players like to go further than others, as we learned last month at the annual All-Star Red Carpet Show. However, teams also showed us that sometimes players like to coordinate their outfits around a certain theme, usually before a long road trip.
Here are the five best MLB road trip outfits of 2018 – at least so far:
5. The D-backs sport their “Miami Vice”
While many clothing themes involve elaborate costumes and creative homages, others center around a simple, slick look. The D-backs showed us a great example of this with their bright, almost blinding, all-white outfit during a trip to Miami in June:

4. The Pirates pretend to be a basketball team
This is the second year in a row we’ve seen an entire team embrace the hoops theme after the Angels did so last August:

But Pirates took the theme to a whole new level with the inclusion of David Freese like the referee, who surely inflicted technical fouls throughout the Buccos’ flight. Nothing escapes this guy.

And also a new Pirate Chris Archer taking out the jersey WNBA All-Star/ESPN Analyst Chiney Ogwumike was also an impressive touch.
3. Brewers pay tribute to Bob Uecker
At 83, Uecker rarely travels on the road with the Brewers. So when the legendary commentator joined the team for a three-game set in Pittsburgh in late June, the Brewers took the opportunity to honor Uecker by dressing like him.

– Milwaukee Brewers (@Brewers) June 17, 2018

But the Brewers didn’t just wear the bold Uecker-branded blazer, they also wore T-shirts emblazoned with an iconic photo of Uecker in a speedo from the 2008 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.

As a few of you have noticed, good job by Counsell and Sedar on their t-shirts for Bob Uecker’s Dress Up Steal.

2. The D-backs dress up as SNL characters
When the D-backs traveled to New York earlier this year to take on the Mets, they could have gone in many different directions when it came to clothing themes. This innovative group zigzagged where others might have zigzagged and achieved one of the most impressive road shows in recent memory.

Who achieved the best @nbcsnl an outfit for the trip to New York? Take a look at our new #Dbacks Photo blog on https://t.co/sBvZ0zftcb and let us know. ???? pic.twitter.com/VqLbSMUEEM

Someone please post this photo of Archie Bradley And John Ryan Murphy into the Hall of Fame as soon as possible. We will stand for nothing less.
1. All Cub Scouts dress like Pedro Strop
While Strop’s ’90s fastball certainly has some pizzazz, his fashion sense is downright volcanic. In addition to having his own clothing linethe flamethrowing reliever has an impressive sense of style, best described as a blinged-out warehouse mural.

To honor Strop’s iconic look, the entire Cubs team dressed up as their beloved teammate during a recent road trip to Kansas City.

Joe Maddon’s outfit is obviously the standout piece, but we particularly love Ian HappThe gold-trimmed suit by. If imitation is indeed the sincerest form of flattery, then Strop might be the most beloved man in baseball.
