The GOAT debate is one of the most talked about topics in all of sports. While athletes like Michael Phelps, Usain Bolt and Tiger Woods may be considered the undisputed greatest in their respective sports, in the world of basketball there is no clear winner for the prestigious title. Several legends have won most of the NBA’s highest honors, but fans around the world consider them Michael Jordan And LeBron James be at the forefront on this hot topic. Although each enthusiast may have their own take on the debate, Shaquille O’Neal recently gave his opinion by sharing an old clip of MJ’s ideologies on the debate.
Shaq has often tiptoed into this conversation. Sometimes the Great Aristotle leaned towards its lightness as his choice for the debate and in some cases, the Lakers legend even claimed that King James was the GOAT.
Recently, Diesel gave another take on the ongoing conversation.
Shaquille O’Neal Shares Excerpt From Michael Jordan’s Opinion On GOAT Debate
A fairly active Instagram user, the TNT analyst recently shared a reel on his story titled “There’s no GOAT.” The reel was a clip obtained from the Must-see 1-hour conversation for cigar lovers Jordan had with Marvin Shanken.
During his conversation with Shanken, the Bulls legend gave an impassioned speech claiming that players from different eras could not be compared. Dismissing the GOAT debate, the 6-time Most Valuable Player said:
“I’ve won six championships, Bill Russell has won 11. Does that make Bill Russell better than me or does that make me better than him? No, because we played in different eras. So when you’re trying to figure out who’s the greatest of all time, it’s an unfair parallel, it’s an unfair choice… For me, I think they’re both great. I would never say one is superior to the other.
O’Neal, who has often touted himself as the most dominant player of all time, clearly agrees with Air Jordan.

“LeBron could beat me”: Michael Jordan
During the same interview, Marvin asked for Mike’s comments after the icon was voted the most popular athlete in American history. Similar to his opinions on the GOAT debate, Air Jordan reiterated his comments by adding that LBJ could beat him to the title in about 20 years.
“It all depends on who’s watching now.” If you ask in 20 years, I’m pretty sure LeBron could beat me.
Whether you favor Michael or LeBron in the debate, no one can deny that these two players played the sport at the highest level.
