One of the best players to ever step foot in Major League Baseball suffered an injury that will force center fielder Mike Trout to miss his third straight All-Star Game.

MLB Star Mike Trout is set for another spell out with a wrist injury.

The three-time MVP was forced to leave the game in the eighth inning after experiencing some discomfort in the game. Los Angeles Angels“10-3 defeat against San Diego Padres Monday. The center fielder appeared to injure his wrist when he fouled a 0-1 throw from Nick Martinez.

After the game, the 31-year-old described the pain he experienced and is now expected to miss 4-8 weeks with a broken wrist. “I just took a swing and something felt uncomfortable,” Trout told reporters after the game. “I’m just waiting to get some scans and hope for the best.

“It doesn’t feel good. I mean, there’s no two ways about it. I’m just hoping for a sprained wrist. I can’t describe the pain I felt. I don’t ‘ve never felt before, never before this. I’ve never had any wrist problems. or anything. Just weird things. Trout is now likely to be out until at least early August and maybe until September and is expected to get a second opinion to decide whether he will need surgery.

“I kind of knew it wasn’t good,” Trout added. “It’s just a weird thing. I asked a lot of guys who had already had surgery or an injury. Some guys came back in four weeks. Some guys took longer. We’ll see how it goes. The player is considered one of the best baseball players of all time and generally considered the greatest five-tool player in the world.

But he suffered a series of nightmarish injuries, suffering foot, leg and arm problems that caused him to miss large parts of several seasons. The 11-time All-Star missed nearly half of 2019 with leg, calf and toe issues, before spending about a third of 2021 on the sidelines with elbow and calf injuries.

The three-time MVP missed half of last season due to hand and back issues, and he was healthy throughout the current campaign until his latest injury suffered on Monday. Excluding 2023, Trout has missed 537 games in his career and that number will now only increase.

On Thursday, Trout was selected to his 11th All-Star Game, but he is gutted to miss it for the third straight year. “It’s hard,” he said. “I was really looking forward to it. It’s frustrating.”

Trout said he was informed by the training staff that it was simply an unfortunate injury that occurred during a single swing of the bat. “Looking back, I didn’t feel any pain or anything like that,” he continued. “I just felt something really painful and weird.

“Talking to the other guys, it’s basically the same thing that happened to them. It’s frustrating because my body feels good. I had a routine and I stuck to it and this weird thing happens. But at least it’s not super serious or season-ending.
