The new football season already has some surprises in store for us, and not just on the pitch. Carrie Underwood returned with its Sunday night NFL staple, but there are some new songs that fans are excited about. Lainey Wilson teamed up with Darius Rucker and The Cadillac Three for the new College Gameday theme, and Fall Out Boy brought new energy to NBC with “This is Saturday evening.” But an unlikely duo stole the show with a brand new collaboration.
ESPN has debuted its new Monday Night Football theme song, and it pairs Chris Stapleton and Snoop Dogg for an epic rendition of Phil Collins’ 1981 banger “In the Air Tonight.” And the incredible drum solo is performed by world-renowned musician (and wife of Carlos Santana) Cindy Blackman Santana.
ESPN shared a clip of the new anthem on its Instagram feed and was flooded with comments from fans.
- “He could sing the cooking instructions on the back of a can of Stove Top and it would be a banger.”
- “Snoop Dog and Chris Stapleton Collaborate on Phil Collins…Wild But Beautiful”
- “I didn’t have the Snoop & Chris Stapleton collaboration on my bingo card for 2023 but here we are and I’m not mad”
- “Chris Stapleton and Snoop are exactly what I need!”
- “You have to perform at the Superbowl halftime show this year!!!”
Both Stapleton and Snoop have Big Game experience (we still haven’t recovered from last year’s national anthem). We agree that they would make an incredible duo for Super Bowl LVIII!
