“But what gives me the most joy,” Ogwumike continues, “is when I’m on the air at an important moment and the players say to me, ‘Thank you for being my voice,’ and they also understand that I’m going to have to be critical, I’m going to have to talk about your great performance and I’m going to have to talk about your more difficult performance.”

“It’s the home of hoops, all hoops. That means if you’re a basketball fan, you probably care about Shai Gilgeous-Alexander breaking Wilt Chamberlain’s record, but you also follow Team USA in World Cup Qualifiers because Paige (Bueckers), Caitlin (Clark) and Angel (Reese) all play together,” the Sparks star explained.
Ogwumike is a 2Ă—WNBA All-Star and 3Ă—WBCA Coaches’ All-American, to name just a few of her basketball accomplishments. She has not officially retired from the WNBA but has not played a game since 2023 to focus primarily on her broadcasting and analyst career. At the end of 2024, she signed a multi-year extension with ESPN. She is currently a host of ESPN shows such as NBA Countdown, WNBA Countdown and NBA Today.
The show will offer new episodes twice weekly on ESPN digital platforms. Fans can also catch up on the latest NBA and WNBA events on YouTube, Apple Podcasts, Spotify and other digital and podcast platforms.
