New York is on a mission to build around Dart, already adding to its pass-catching options by signing Calvin Austin III And Isaiah Probably in free agency. Mooney is the latest to join this group, which also includes Malik Nabers.
The Giants are hoping to take the next step in what has been a long rebuild for the franchise. The hope is that Mooney is another piece that will help make the G-Men a contender for something other than the No. 1 pick in the draft.

Darnell Mooney statistics
Mooney is set to enter his seventh NFL season and first with the Giants after signing a one-year contract. The receiver was drafted by the Chicago Bears with the No. 173 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
He has 309 receptions, 4,028 receiving yards and 18 total touchdowns in 91 games, proving to be a useful weapon in any team’s passing attack. Mooney’s best season was his second, the only one with at least 1,000 yards. He appeared to return to that form with the Falcons in 2024, posting 992 yards before taking a step back in 2025.
How does Darnell Mooney fit in with the Giants?
Mooney joins a wide receiver room with the Giants led by Nabers, meaning he won’t be asked to be the star of Big Blue’s offense.

Alongside the new Austin and Likely, Mooney should help fill a complementary role as the Giants look to replace Wan’Dale Robinson, left for the Tennessee Titans in free agency.
This offseason is all about surrounding Dart with as much talent as possible to continue the quarterback’s development. Mooney is the type of quarterback-friendly receiver who could become a major weapon for John Harbaugh’s team.
