The original deadline was March 10. The date has passed, but the WNBA and the WNBPA have still not managed to reach an agreement. For what it’s worth, it’s a good sign that both sides are still willing to talk.

The WNBPA Executive Committee, led by President Nneka Ogwumike of the Seattle Storm, continues to meet in person with league executives in New York.

After their last meeting, Ogwumike shared a encouraging update on this subject, cited by Alexa Philippou of ESPN.

“I think what we’re feeling is movement,” Ogwumike said.

“We want to play. We’ve heard it from the other side as well. We need a stronger demonstration of that:”

The WNBPA withdrew from the previous CBA, which was supposed to run through 2027, to demand a better deal, especially as the WNBA has seen unprecedented popularity in recent years.

The WNBA, however, did not respond to the request. player requestsincluding higher salaries and revisions to the league’s revenue sharing model, among other things.

“Ogwumike added that seven proposals have been exchanged over the last two days and the players are awaiting a response on an eighth,” Philippou added.

Ogwumike and other stars, including Minnesota Lynx’s Napheesa CollierBreanna Stewart of the New York Liberty, Kelsey Plum of the Los Angeles Sparks and Angel Reese of the Chicago Sky said they are prepared to stand their ground and strike if the WNBA refuses to compromise.
