A trial involving two NASCAR Cup Series The teams called it quits after it was announced they had reached an agreement.
Legacy Motor Club (LMC)owned by seven-time Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson, sued Rick Ware Racing (RWR) in April regarding a disagreement over the sale and transaction of a team charter.
LMC then claimed to have signed an agreement on March 3 to acquire one of RWR’s charters, but that RWR was trying to withdraw from the agreement.
Reports at the time suggested the main issue was that RWR was under the impression the deal would be completed in 2027, while LMC wanted things to happen before the 2026 season.

Legacy Motor Club and Rick Ware Racing reach agreement
Since then, the teams have clashed several times in court, with RWR even being file a countersuit against LMC.
There was also further legal drama when RWR agreed to sell its charters to TJ Puchyr, who, in turn, found himself the subject of an LMC lawsuit for an alleged “underhanded attempt” to make the purchase.
However, the legal battle is now over, with LMC and RWR issuing a joint statement on Friday to confirm this.

“Legacy Motor Club and Rick Ware Racing jointly announced today that the teams have reached a resolution regarding the sale and transaction of a team charter,” a press release states.
The lawsuit was reportedly resolved amicably and to the satisfaction of both parties involved. However, the terms of the agreement remained confidential.

Jimmie Johnson and Rick Ware react
As part of this announcement, both team owners – Jimmie Johnson and Rick Ware – released a statement on the matter.
LMC owner Johnson said: “Achieving a positive outcome was important to everyone involved.
“I sincerely respect the efforts made by Robby Benton and Rick Ware to reach a settlement so that we can all focus on our business operations and future goals.
“I’m glad this is behind us and we can all move forward in unison.”
Meanwhile, Rick Ware added, “I met with Jimmie and Cal Wells recently and we came to an agreement to sell and transfer a charter from RWR to the Legacy Motor Club.
“I believe we have landed in a mutually beneficial situation for both teams, and the outcome will be a clear path forward for all of us. I look forward to putting all our efforts into finishing the 2025 season strong.”
Both teams can now focus on what happens on the track rather than off it, with just seven races remaining for the 2025 season.
The action continues at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Sunday (2 p.m. ET, USA).
