A select group of WNBA players are participating in Team USA’s training camp this weekend in Miami before heading to the FIBA Women’s World Cup qualifying tournament next week. One of the WNBA players making her debut for Team USA is the Indiana Fever star. Caitlin Clark. Even though the focus is on the upcoming tournament, discussions couldn’t help but turn to the CBA WNBA negotiations underwayof which Clark was a part.

During her media availability session, Caitlin Clark gave him thoughts about what she would like to see regarding CBA WNBA negotiationsaccording to Annie Costabile of Front Office Sports.

“I don’t understand why we don’t walk into a room and work things out and shake hands,” Clark mused. “That’s how business works. We look each other in the eye, we shake hands, we respect both sides. For me, that’s what I like to see.”

There has been no meeting between the two parties since the beginning of February. Before that, the last in-person meeting was in October. Clark’s sentiment was echoed by WNBPA executive committee member Breanna Stewart.

“I think it would be great for us to sit in a room until we’re really done,” Stewart said. “If it means sitting there for hours and hours, let’s do it. It’s for the best of the player. Even if a situation like this has never happened before, there’s a first time for everything.”

The majority of interactions between players and the league were done electronically. The WNBA recently gave players a deadline of March 10 to put the framework for a new CBA in place before the dates for the 2026 season are likely to be affected. The tentative start date for the season is May 8.

But before the season even begins, the league must hold potentially two expansion drafts with the Portland Fire and Toronto Tempo starting play, a free agency period and a regular WNBA draft.
