Texas A&M (21-10, 11-7 SEC) finished the 2025-2026 regular season on the highest note after beating Kentucky on Tuesday and LSU on the road in 3 OT, 94-91in what appeared to be a must-win game to earn a spot in the NCAA tournament. According to almost every national analyst, the Aggies are a virtual “lock” for the big ball, which is a huge accomplishment for first-year head coach Bucky McMillan.

In one of the wildest games of the season, the Aggies trailed by 15 points in the first half, looking lifeless on both sides of the ball, until senior guard Rylan Griffen came alive in one of his best performances of the season, scoring 24 points, including five three-pointers, while fellow senior forward Rashaun Agee produced a team-high 26 points and 11 rebounds in 47 (!) minutes, and made several key shots.

Wrapping up the SEC regular season, it wasn’t a good day for everyone, including the Texas Longhorns, who lost to Oklahoma at home in overtime and now fear missing the NCAA Tournament just a week after beating Texas A&M in College Station. Florida finished the regular season atop the SEC standings, while the Aggies earned a first-round bye in the SEC tournament and will now face the winner of Oklahoma against South Carolina on Thursday after the Sooner’s massive road victory.

Finishing 6th in the SEC after being projected to finish 13th during the preseason, while inheriting a completely depleted roster, should allow first-year head coach Bucky McMillan to emerge as the favorite for SEC Coach of the Year, in direct competition with Florida coach Todd Golden.

As the SEC tournament approaches next week, here are the final SEC basketball rankings.

Final SEC Standings

  1. Arkansas (23-8, 13-5 SEC)

  2. Vanderbilt (24-7, 11-7 SEC)

  3. Tennessee (21-10, 11-7 SEC)

  4. Texas A&M (21-10, 11-7 SEC)

  5. Missouri (20-11, 10-8 SEC)

  6. Kentucky (19-12, 10-8 SEC)

  7. Oklahoma (17-14, 7-11 SEC)

  8. Mississippi State (13-18, 7-11 SEC)
