Tennis fans know that Coco, 21 Gauff loves going to escape rooms when she has free time during WTA tournaments.
Following his second-round victory at Indian Wells, Tennis Channel’s Prakash Amritraj asked Gauff about his recent trip to an escape room that included his friend, former player and current Tennis Channel broadcaster Chris Eubanks.

Gauff made no secret of Eubanks’ contribution, or lack thereof, in helping their group escape the escape room. She didn’t care if it was recorded on tape at his current employer, where he would surely be questioned about it.

What Coco Gauff said
Gauff basically said Eubanks did nothing. He showed up after work, happily took off his blazer, and barely contributed beyond being the tall person who could access the clues located high up where his 6’8″ frame could access more easily than the other members of their group.
Eubanks saw Gauff’s clip, and his feedback was that she continued to invite him to escape room outings. The two share a long-standing friendship dating back to Gauff’s early days on the WTA Tour. Eubanks is also the one who had the privilege of telling Gauff she would be flag bearer at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

All joking aside, Gauff will be laser-focused on her third-round match against Alex Eala of the Philippines. Eala and Gauff were doubles partners at the Italian Open and recently faced off in Dubai.

Hopefully Gauff has home-court advantage in Indian Wells as the top-ranked American, but Eala has legions of fans who travel the world to watch her matches. Plus, many Filipinos live in California, so it’s only a short trip to Indian Wells to see her there.
