The 2026 WNBA season is at risk of being delayed, and possibly worse due to a lack of movement between the league and the WNBPA players union. According to ESPN’s Alexa Philippouthe league has set a target date of March 10 to avoid a delay in the season.
Philippou notes that even if there was a CBA agreement before March 10, there will still be some time before the agreement is official.
Even once the deal is reached, formal ratification could take weeks. The WNBA still has to conduct a two-team expansion draft for the Toronto Tempo and Portland Fire and hold free agency for 80% of the league.
Training camp is currently scheduled to begin on April 19 and the college draft is scheduled for April 13. The regular season is scheduled to end on May 8.
Hopefully we will see some evolution towards an ABC.
