Benjamin Pavard (29 years old) joined Olympique de Marseille in the final hours of the summer transfer window. However, it seems unlikely – as things stand – that OM will make his loan from Inter Milan permanent, according to a report from La Gazzetta du Sport.
Despite 29 appearances for The Phocaeans, the French international has struggled to find form since arriving at the Vélodrome, and at times in recent weeks has seen himself fall to the bench. For example, he did not play against Paris FC and was benched for the key match against RC Lens.

As a result, OM is hesitant to trigger the purchase clause of the deal, amounting to €15 million. Of course, that could still change by the end of the season. But if Marseille chose not to retain Pavard, it would leave Inter Milan in a difficult situation, as they are unwilling to retain the defender due to his high salary.
If he returned to northern Italy, Internazionale would therefore look for another destination for the defender.
