With nine commitments and the third-ranked recruiting class in the country according to 247Sports, Ohio State’s 2027 class has more than just a solid foundation so far. There’s still a lot of work to do, we’ve seen the coaching staff travel the country in recent weeks to check on their top targets, and that includes coming up with some new names as well.
With visits lined up by many of the board’s top prospects, the Buckeyes are looking to showcase their typical impressive guest list in the coming weeks — and that includes state and national options.

Buckeyes still interested in 2027 WR
Although Ohio State has made a coaching change, the Buckeyes are showing continued interest in a top receiver target in 2027, as Cortez Hankton re-offered a Pennsylvania native. Khalil Taylor Wednesday. A player who was also on Brian Hartline’s radar, Ohio State’s thoughts remain the same even with the change in leadership.
A 5-foot-11, 180-pound athlete, Taylor is the #65 player nationally and 14th best receiver in the country according to the 247Sports Composite. A Pine-Richland powerhouse product, the Buckeyes are no stranger to its prep program, and with recent success, they signed 2026 cornerback Jay Timmons from the same school.
With offers from nearly 30 programs, including Georgia, Florida State, Indiana, Notre Dame, Oregon, Penn State and more, the Buckeyes are looking to remain in consideration. Early on, Penn State holds Crystal Ball’s only prediction for his possible commitment, but Ohio State and Hankton have other plans in place to get him thinking elsewhere.

With spring practice approaching, look for the coaching staff to bring Taylor to campus. If they succeed, the Buckeyes will be in the running for the long haul. As far as development goes, Ohio State is at the top of the college landscape, and whether or not they have a new coaching position, you have to like their chances of bringing in the best players there.
Ohio State expects multiple visits to 2027 OL target
Three players committed along the offensive line to Ohio State’s 2027 class at this point, the Buckeyes are really off to a hot start with Tyler Bowen leading the way. The goal is to continue adding elite talent and depth to their already impressive roster, but they are still working on many high-profile players, including Colorado native, Jackson Roper.

THE #239 player nationally and 13th best interior lineman according to the 247Sports Composite, Roper is not a new name in Ohio State recruiting. An offered player by the Buckeyes last September, Jackson hasn’t been shy about expressing interest in the program and that included a successful trip to Columbus in November last season.
Keeping Ohio State at the forefront of his mind, Roper not only plans to return this coming spring, but is also planning a second trip for the summer months. Scheduled to be on campus for spring practice on April 10, he also plans to take an official visit to Ohio State in June.
Which would be three visits in about eight months, you have to like the Buckeyes’ chances of being the final destination because visits often show where a player is prioritizing. Offers from over 30 schools and places like Alabama, Georgia, Miami, Michigan, Oklahoma, Oregon, USC and others, Ohio State is in a good position right now.
