On Monday night, the NBA delivered drama in different ways. A team erased a huge deficit. Another relied on a single star to survive without key players. The long losing streaks ended and the winning streaks stopped. Each match changed the mood of the standings and showed which teams were finding answers and which were still searching.

Winners: Charlotte Hornets

Charlotte earned its seventh straight victory after erasing a 22-point deficit. LaMelo Ball showed toughness after a head collision with trainer Charles Lee resulted in a cut eye. He came back quickly and finished with 24 points. Kon Knueppel scored 17 goals and made four three-pointers. Brandon Miller and Grant Williams added 16 each. The Hornets survived 17 turnovers and poor three-point shooting in the first half. Ball’s drive and dunk in the fourth gave Charlotte the lead. Miller then stole the ball from Herbert Jones and finished with a one-handed dunk. The victory brought Charlotte to within a half-game of Atlanta for the final play-in spot.

Losers: New Orleans Pelicans

New Orleans couldn’t hold a solid lead in the first half. Trey Murphy III led with 27 points. Zion Williamson had 14 points and 11 rebounds. Derik Queen added 16. Ball’s injury didn’t slow Charlotte down enough. The defensive pressure hurt the Pelicans late. This is their sixth defeat in nine games. New Orleans struggled to stop dribbles in the fourth quarter.

Winners: Houston Rockets

Houston won despite the absence of Kevin Durant and Steven Adams. Alperen Sengun carried the charge with 39 points and 16 rebounds. Jabari Smith Jr. added 19. Sengun made 13 of 25 shots and 13 of 18 free throws. Eight of those free throws came in the fourth quarter. The Rockets used a late 12-2 run to seal the game. A replay call erased a possible Pacers buzzer-beater before halftime and changed the momentum. Houston earned its third straight victory and third straight road victory.

Losers: Indiana Pacers

Indiana couldn’t finish strong after a comeback surge. Pascal Siakam scored 27 points. Bennedict Mathurin added 25. The Pacers briefly led in the third quarter after a quick pass from Jarace Walker to Siakam. Sengun’s free throws ended their hopes. The team missed an opportunity to extend their winning streak to three games. Defensive errors in the final minutes proved costly.

Memphis Grizzlies vs. Minnesota Timberwolves (137-128)

Winners: Memphis Grizzlies

Memphis ended a six-game losing streak with accurate shooting. Jaren Jackson Jr. scored 30 points. Ty Jerome had 19. Jaylen Wells added 18. Cam Spencer and Vince Williams Jr. scored 16 each. A three-point shot changed the game after a poor effort two nights earlier. Memphis went 8 of 15 from deep in the first half. A 20-point lead formed in the second half. The three early in the fourth quarter pushed the margin to 20 again. The Grizzlies remained in the lead even when Minnesota tried to rally.

Losers: Minnesota Timberwolves

Minnesota couldn’t repeat its strong performance from Saturday. Anthony Edwards led with 39 points and seven rebounds. Jaden McDaniels scored 29. Donte DiVincenzo scored 21, including 13 in the fourth quarter. The Timberwolves never got closer than nine points behind. Their four-game winning streak came to an end. Defensive breakdowns on the perimeter hurt them early on.

Winners: Philadelphia 76ers

Philadelphia stayed hot with a fourth straight victory. Tyrese Maxey scored 29 points and made seven three-pointers. Dominick Barlow scored 26 points and 16 rebounds. Joel Embiid added 24 while recovering from injury. The Sixers led from start to finish and built a 23-point lead. A 72-53 halftime lead set the tone. The team improved to 11-10 without Paul George. Balanced scoring and consistent defense kept things in control all night.

Losers: Los Angeles Clippers

Los Angeles missed James Harden for a second straight game. Kawhi Leonard led with 29 points. Jordan Miller added 21 off the bench. Short runs in the fourth quarter failed to change the outcome. Leonard finished on the bench while the gap remained wide. The Clippers remain in the race for play-in but could not compete with the energy of Philadelphia.

Conclusion

February 2 produced victories that mattered beyond the final score. Charlotte proved she could fight back under pressure. Houston showed it can win even on the penalty kill. Memphis finally broke through after weeks of frustration. Philadelphia continued its steady progress. For losing teams, the night revealed problems with closing out games and protecting leads. As the season moves forward quickly, these results could determine who stays alive in the NBA playoff race and who falls behind.
