Berman: It didn’t take a doctorate in body language to see that something was wrong here. I don’t know if he would be back, which is ridiculous to consider because he is one of the best players in franchise history and he will be 29 next season. It would behoove the Eagles to keep him, and I guess they know that. We talk too much about finances and not enough about football. The Eagles have demonstrated that they are not afraid of dead money, especially if there are cash savings that can be redistributed. The biggest problem is that they are an inferior passing attack without Brown. (I’ve heard he lost a step, suffered some playoff drops, and was a “distraction.” If your down year includes 78 catches for 1,003 yards and seven touchdowns in 15 games while requiring constant attention, I’d take it.) Unless they can redirect their resources to acquire a wide receiver in his prime, I don’t think DeVonta Smith and a first-round draft pick would be enough. My guess is the Eagles hire an offensive coordinator who comes in with every intention of rejuvenating the passing game, and the Eagles go all-in in 2026 with the Brown-Smith combination. I don’t see how the Eagles can move away from him in what could be the final year of this offensive core. If Brown pushes to play elsewhere and the Eagles oblige, they could attempt to trade for a wide receiver with the resources acquired. A better bet would be to trade Brown for the new coordinator.

There were certainly ups and downs, adversity for Jihaad Campbell during his rookie season. He recognized it during locker cleaning day. “But when you look back on it,” Campbell said, “the only thing I can think about is just being grateful, being grateful for the opportunity that I earned throughout the season.” It was a bit of an unusual rookie season for Campbell. While most rookies tend to earn more playing time during their first seasons in the NFL, it was the opposite for Campbell, through no fault of his own. Campbell, 21, began the season as the starting linebacker alongside Zack Baun and showed great promise through the first six weeks of the season. But then Nakobe Dean came back, was inserted into the starting lineup, and somehow played at a consistently higher level than before he tore his patella tendon in the 2024 playoffs, so Campbell returned to the bench. But he has shown real maturity through everything he says came from his parents. “I think it’s just about controlling the things you can control and only that,” Campbell said. “I make sure I come into this building every day with a smile on my face, with a mentality, a go-to-work mentality, whatever it may be. Having a neutral mindset of not getting too high or too low. Just making sure that I come into this building, I’m ready to work every day.”

Of those 14 “long-term starters” acquired in the first, second and third rounds of the draft since Sirianni arrived in 2021, 10 of them are on the defensive side of the ball. Offense: WR DeVonta Smith, OL Landon Dickerson, OL Cam Jurgens, OL Tyler Steen. Defense: DT Milton Williams, DT Jordan Davis, LB Nakobe Dean, DT Jalen Carter, EDGE Nolan Smith, CB Quinyon Mitchell, CB Cooper DeJean, EDGE Jalyx Hunt, LB Jihaad Campbell, S Drew Mukuba. For those curious, the only one of the 15 picks who failed to become a regular starter was safety Sydney Brown, who was selected in the third round of the 2023 draft. But that’s a pretty impeccable success rate — and it’s one Roseman will need to keep up with. Future Hall of Fame right tackle Lane Johnson could retire. Dickerson and Jurgens suffered injuries on the interior and saw their play suffer in 2025. If Brown is traded, you’ll need a top-tier wide receiver to pair with Smith. And Goedert could land a big contract elsewhere.

Philadelphia Eagles: TE Kenyon Sadiq, Oregon. The Eagles could go in several directions. Assuming 31-year-old tight end Dallas Goedert leaves in free agency, Sadiq is an option. The Oregon pass catcher is generating noise as a potential top-10 pick and should very well test this spring. His on-field production wasn’t amazing in 2025, leading to a 69.0 overall PFF grade, but there’s plenty of athleticism to work with, which will make Sadiq a top target for many NFL teams.

Former New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll will interview for the vacant Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator position, according to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter. Daboll ending up with the Eagles and facing the team that fired him twice a year as the mastermind of Philadelphia’s offense would be an ironic twist to come out of this NFL hiring cycle. Daboll, 20-40-1 (.336 winning percentage) as head coach of the Giants, recently interviewed for the vacant head coaching position with the Tennessee Titans. It is believed that Daboll could be sought by a number of teams as an offensive coordinator before the hiring cycle ends.
