Warriors coach Steve Kerr ejected from loss to Clippers after bursting at officials with Snoop Dogg on call

Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr was kicked out of their 103-102 defeat against the Los Angeles Clippers Monday evening.

Luckily for NBA fans, Snoop Dogg was on Peacock’s call to walk everyone through this.

Kerr broke out midway through the fourth quarter of the game at the Intuit Dome after becoming increasingly frustrated throughout the game. It was a block by John Collins, who pushed Gary Payton to the rim and blocked his layup at the backboard, that finally sparked Kerr for good. After Stephen Curry was booked for a foul at the other end of the court, an angry Kerr rushed toward the officials, yelling and pleading for a goalie call.

It took an assistant, Payton and Gui Santos to hold him back to restrain Kerr while he committed two technical fouls, which triggered the ejection. Kerr then quickly left the ground and entered the tunnel.

Snoop Dogg was a special guest on Peacock’s tripleheader Monday night. He joined regular announcers Reggie Miller and Terry Gannon in a one-off event ahead of his appearance on the network’s coverage ahead of next month’s Winter Olympics in Italy.

Even though it didn’t impact the match, his presence on the show certainly made Kerr’s sending off even more memorable.

Kerr also refused to speak to reporters after the game. Instead, assistant coach Terry Stotts took his place.

“I’m here to save Steve money,” he said via the Melissa Rohlin of the California Post.

The Clippers led most of Monday night’s game and even took a 14-point lead in the third quarter before the Warriors came roaring back down the stretch. Curry brought the game back to one possession after scoring a huge 3-pointer with just over a minute left before fouling out. Draymond Green, whose return was briefly considered doubtful due to a rib injury after crashing into the bench just before halftime, then cut the lead to a single point with a layup.

While Jimmy Butler took a look at a game-winning play, his turnover was just out of place at the buzzer. This ensured the Clippers’ one-point victory.

Kawhi Leonard led the Clippers with 24 points and 12 rebounds, although he went 0 of 8 from behind the arc. Kobe Sanders added a career-high 20 points and seven rebounds, and Collins finished with 18 rebounds. The Clippers’ win pushed them to 13-22 on the season.

Curry led the Warriors with 27 points and six assists in the loss. Butler added 24 points and six rebounds. Those two were the only Warriors starters to reach double figures, and they combined to shoot just 5 of 19 from the 3-point line. The loss dropped Golden State to 19-18 on the season.
