THE Yankees and the Miami Marlins are in trade talks over a potential deal for the starting pitcher Edward Cabreraaccording to a report by Chris Kirschner and Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, who added that “no deal was done” as of Sunday morning.
The Chicago Cubs and San Francisco Giants are also reportedly interested, according to a later report by Jon Heyman of the New York Post.

Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports that the Dishes have also expressed their interest.
The 27-year-old RHP is under team control through the 2028 campaign and is set to earn $3.75 million in this year’s arbitration. according to Spotrac.com.
With a career-high 137.2 IP in 26 games last season, Cabrera went 8-7 with a 3.53 ERA and 1.23 WHIP. He had 150 strikeouts, 48 walks and 10 hit batters.
The 2025 campaign saw him progress from his 2024 season, in which he was 4-8 with a 4.95 ERA through 20 games and a 96.1 IP.
Cabrera went 7-7 with a 4.24 ERA in 22 games (20 starts) and 99.2 IP in 2023. He was 6-4 with a 3.01 ERA in 14 games (all starts) and 71.2 IP the year before.

His first season, the 2021 campaign, saw him go 0-3 with a 5.81 ERA in seven games – all starts.
Cabrera’s MLB debut came on August 25, 2021, when he allowed three runs on four hits in 6.1 IP during Miami’s 4–3 win over the Washington Nationals.
The Marlins signed Cabrera as an international free agent from the Dominican Republic in July 2015.
