It’s been a minute since Minnesota Lynx head coach Cheryl Reeve crashed out to end the season. He was justified as WNBA officials completely embarrassed themselves in the playoffs and Napheesa Collier left the final game injured.

The WNBA season doesn’t begin until next spring, but Collier is a co-founder of the three-on-three winter league, Unrivaled, and will now miss an extended period due to massive surgery.

Expected to miss four to six months, the schedule falls somewhere between April and June. This would call into question the start of the WNBA season and not give Collier the opportunity to compete in her unrivaled league this winter.

The Minnesota Lynx have finished first in WNBA last seasonbut lost in the semi-final against the Phoenix Mercury. They are seeking their fifth WNBA championship.

After negotiating a opportunity to draft Angel Reese in 2024the Lynx now have the second overall pick in 2026. They will have a serious opportunity to land an impact player alongside Collier right off the bat.
